wibsite:
|
creativity / community / faith
The site started life in 1999 as 'Wibblethorpe's Tasty Nodules' before becoming 'Wibblethorpe.com' and then The Wibsite. Using an old computer, several paperclips and a piece of string we added a little bit here, a little bit there and before we knew it we had a site with little bits added on here and there.
The site has grown considerably over the last few years so that we can now pretend to be one of the UK's most-read Christian websites. Our daily updates include a wide range of unusual content from an assortment of contributors and a whole worldwide community of 'Wibloggers'.
This introduction
to the site with quotes by New Zealand writer Mike Riddell sums up what we're about quite well.
people:
Editor:
Dave Walker edits this site. He is a freelance cartoonist, running the CartoonChurch.com website and drawing weekly for the Church Times. He likes looking out of the window at things. His bin day is Thursday.
Websites: CartoonChurch.com, The Cartoon Blog, also Dave Walker dot info.

Technical Director:
Chris is the brains behind such areas as the Wiblogs and
e-cards and contuinues to work on developing interactive features
and other technical gizmos. He plays music and that sort of thing.

Site Administrators:
Rhys Jones actually does most of the work around here. He's the only one who really understands how Chris's code works, making himself invaluable in making sure Chris isn't using the site to sell second hand wheelbarrows on the side.

Neil Denham is from Exeter, where carries out acts of randomness. He likes yoghurt, though sometimes has trouble choosing which one he likes the best. The fridge magnets were his idea, as were quite a few other things come to think of it. His own site is known as the slightly random page.

Editorial Team:
Maddie keeps an eye on the bulletin board and takes away old threads to be recycled. No, really, she does. This wonderous member of our team lives in the East of England, where she enjoys relaxing with Friends, a small cat and a big map.
Wiblog: Maddie.

Kate was recruited by the Wibsite for a six finger sum as (among other things) our Apostrophe Monitor. And sort of making the writing stuff we do, like, better, kind of thing, with well-good grammar and that.

Lauren Mcmillan has written a good number of Wibsite pieces and is certain to go far - she's recently been on a year out in South America for instance. Sit her down with a glass of water and she can tell you a thing or two about the Purveyors of new Jam and 'Ralph'. Lauren is a good friend of Bobette Shifty.

Nefertiki is our USA correspondent. Formerly our resident expert on the Archives of Old Woodbridge (who can forget the restrictions on public expectoration, the perils of traversing the muddy rivulet known as The Crik and the above average ecclesiastical incoherence of the Rev. Woodbridge's sermons?) Nefertiki has now taken up the post of Hudson Valley stringer. She also writes for the Apple Growers Gazette and is known for her light, breezy style.

Nelly likes to think she is the Wibsite's youthful voice, but it may just be a phase. She has special responsibilities in the area of special responsibility for being the youthful voice of the Wibsite.

Nessa successfully campaigned to get the Wibsite successfully campaigning to save the burnt sienna crayon, which was threatening extinction until last October. She lives in Swansea near a bunch of other Wibloggers, whom she often drinks tea with, and shares a house with Heathcliff, the Wibsite’s resident cat (who prefers milk).

Lemly is our resident Neighbours and Alan Rickman expert.

Chalky - we have been in negotiation with chalky about our Wibsite/Faith section for 26 years now as she knows about that sort of thing.

Guest Cartoonists:
Darren is the cartoonist for 'Christianity and Renewal' Magazine where you will see his Monthly bold's fold cartoons.
Malc taught Dave how to draw necks.
Other contributors:
The many other contributors. To mention three: Rev. Gerald Ambulance and
Wood. Wait, that's only two. Oh well.
Thanks
To Mike Riddell for allowing us to use his quotes.
To freeimages.co.uk who supply some of our avatar images.
To freefoto.com whose images we use sometimes.
technical details:
The Wibsite is hosted by Easily.co.uk. Dave usually builds Wibsites using notepad, the Concise Oxford Dictionary and 'HTML4' by Elizabeth Castro. Chris uses more complex programmes as he's clever like that. Uploading is done with Cute FTP. Scanning is done with a scanner, printing is done with a printer.
sponsorship:
The site costs money to run and doesn't really make any. If you or your organisation like what we do and would like to sponsor a small slice
of it at a very reasonable rate then please get in touch. Well, it's worth a try isn't it.
